So many Australian servicemens headstones ,So immaculately kept...

 Kranji War Cemetery  Singapore

A wonderful postcard from The Changi Prison Camp Museum. The card shows , The Chang Quilt This quilt was made by women civilian internees for their men, The Changi Quilt is one of only three pieces remaining from Changi Prison of the brutal occupation years by the Japanese that are on display.as both parties were kept in separate quarters, the names on this simple quilt fulfilled the vital role of informing their loved ones that they were still alive and well.
Today I visit Changi  Prisoners Museum.. I travel here by local bus and this is another of many places that I want to visit while here in Singapore..Once again for me this holds much Military history to be observed as many Australian prisoners of war were kept and killed here.... There is a very solemn time as I , and a few visitors walk the halls of the museum looking at war memorabilia photos , stories written, and also seeing and reading much of the atrocious behaviour of the Japanese soldiers ,perpetrated on the various nationalities that were imprisoned here. This was a very interesting  Museum to visit..that I must say..and one of sadness to see.  I also very early on an unbelievably humid morning when the hot air assaulted your nostrils and lungs with a vigour . I made my way to the  famous Kranji Cemetery here for the Anzac Day Dawn Service and what an incredibly moving experience to hear the "Haka" in the early morning light is enough to make your hair stand up on your neck and at the same time have a heap of emotion to shed a tear for all those poor unfortunate prisoners here who were brutalised and died..This is the most amazing cemetery ,,so well kept with its amazing memorial to the three services that were all a part of this great war with the wings of an Aeroplane the conning tower of a Submarine and all the supports holding representing the Army  infantry ..A wonderful tropical plant by each headstone so well manicured..
This was a souvenir postcard from this visit while in Singapore on my "Around the World by Train " The other photos are my own..
