England

Manchester :  ENGLAND :  ( Journey # 2 )                The" Captains Dog"
A fun card that I picked for a souvenir to Manchester, The card depicts the "Captains Dog" (of course a British Bulldog )looking out of a porthole of a British Destroyer. This was another major stop on my long journey as being a Military History "buff" there were some places on the "wants" list to see here. One of the main things to do was a visit to The  Imperial War Museum. The Imperial War Museum here in Manchester was of particular interest after The major War Museum  in London could not display so much of the array of items that were there , it was decided to build another in Manchester..this was greeted with much displeasure in London but common sense prevailed and this wonderful Museum here is well worth the time for you to visit. I must say that I really had wonderful sunny weather all of my time here in the UK on this trip making my stay  it so much more enjoyable.
After a short train ride from Manchester I arrived in another place that I wanted to visit , and that was the town of Bury,a most attractive small town with its many flower baskets in the streets.so nice to see locals caring for their community. and it was here that I wanted to visit The Regimental Museum of  The Famous Lancashire Fusilliers. This was a wonderful Museum with most welcoming staff and really was a pleasure to visit and  to pay homage to this gallant regiment who suffered such incredible losses like we did in Gallipoli in 1914-15
.Like these various places that I visited here while in Manchester. they were a few of the many places that I wanted to visit on my "Around the World by Train " journey.
