Hmong women getting wood ready to sell. |
Intha Fisherman standing at the stern on their slender boat Rowing with one leg. Amazing to watch..some boats have so much on board they only are inches from the top of the water..Inle Lake Located in the heart of the Shan State is 1500 meters above sea level..
This is an amazing Lake to be out on. I found it reminicent of Lake Titicaca in Peru with such altitude and so vast in area. The navigation around the water roadways I found fascinating there are so many inhabitants here that are barely surviving after a devistating flood the year previously..I can understand why the straw houses are so high up on their stilts..
The ( above) card is a Souvenir from my visit here in Heho at Lake Inle 2009
.This was from my "Around the World by Train" journey although due to the military situation at the time trains were not available..This I found to be the most amazing place with wonderful people just so oppressed my the military junta..
