A lovely card arrived today showing the # 6143 General Motors locomotive travelling through the " Stone Mountain State Park " in Georgia..behind the locomotive is the largest body of exposed granite in the world.and looking closer you will see the amazing rock carvings depicting.the mounted figures of The Confederate President Jefferson Davis , Robert E Lee and Stonewall Jackson. The #143 loco is used to provide visitors with a pleasant 5 mile scenic journey around The Stone Mountain Park.
#6143 was built in 1950 and completely overhauled in 2011 at the Stone Mountain Railway workshop.She is an FP-7 locomotive from the Southern Railroad Company and weighs in at 120 tons.Thank you for this great card.and the many lovely old steam engine stamps.very thoughtful of you....hugs...
