   Thank you dear Inge for this card from your recent  trip on the Rhine Ruver.  This is a trip that I promised myself but never did.The  lovely card shows the statue of "The Loreley"  a famous woman in German folklore  and is  located in the "Middle Rhine". This location  is a 132 meter high steep  slate rock  on the right bank of the Rhine River  "Rhine Gorge "  or (Middle Rhine ) or Sanky Goarshausen Germany and is part of the  Upper Middle Rhine Valley. The 1930's  Loreley Amphitheatre is on the top of the rock. "Loreley" herself is a siren of German mythology, of great beauty and delicious song ,who was placed on the rock on the Rhine .. and along with her song was known to seduce the navigators.,  her statue stands on the  banks of the river in The Rhineland . This is a Unesco World Heritage Site.

What a lovely looking place Mayen is...I would so much love to visit this beautiful town.A lovely multi - view card showing many scenes of this lovely town.Thank you so Much my dear Andrea for this fine card and also the examples of the Basalt and slate that Mayen is famous for apparently. Mayen used to have a hue basalt industry exporting it all over the world and many famous buildings were built with this basalt.and was formerly known  as Mayenne Gold". Another prominent product mined in this area is slate..please see the examples on the cards sent...so good Thanks again Andrea ..

 Eifel : The Volcano Park in Mayen-Koblenz is a geopark in the rural district of Mayen Koblenz in the eastern Vulcan Eifel Germany. This was founded in 1996 and wraps around The Laarcher See (between Brohl Lutzing , Andermach , Plaidt, Mendig and Mayen ) Togeather with the Volcano Park , Brohital /  Laacher See and The Vulcan Eifel Nature and Geo-park it forms part of The National Eifel Volcano Geo-Park. The three parks are connected by the  280 kilometer long German Volcano Route.
