SURINAME  : covers an area of some 163,821 KM2
POPULATION : of Suriname is 558,368 inhabitants
CAPITAL CITY : of Suriname is Paramaribo.
LOCATION : of Suriname is South America.
UNIQUE : to Suriname is the only country in the world where a mosque is located next to a synagogue
FLORA: Tropical Rainforrests are about 80% of Surinames landscape.
FAMOUS : The Suriname toad is about five inches long and almost flat ,its feet are webbed and it has tiny eyes with no teeth and no tongue !!
OLYMPICS : Suriname has won two medals a gold and a broze both won by swimmer Anthony Nesty in 1988 and 1992
HISTORY : The first settlements in Suriname were indigenous settlements that date back to 3,000 BC The largest tribes were the "Arawak"A nomadic coastal tribe They were also the first inhabitants in the area .
INDEPENDENCE : 25th November 1975 from The Netherlands.

A truly lovely colourful card from a good friend and card swapper in Suriname..The card shows a series of "Wild faces" of some of the various wildlife too be found in Suriname..and they are (,l to r) The King Vulture   Giant Otter , Squirrel Monkey , The three toed Sloth ,  and the beautiful Ocelot (protected )..Thank you so much again Sheryl for such a lovely colurful card..

A lovely collection of local Surinamese in National dress and how colourful it is.Thank you Cheryl for thinking of me with this card and will reciprocate ASAP...also thanks for the lovely stamps.
Just so nice to return home from my trip to find these lovely cards waiting for me.

SURINAME:

 Officially known as The Republic of Suriname., is a country on the north eastern Atlantic coast of South America. (dutch ) it is bordered by French Guiana to the east, Guyana to the west,and Brazil to the south.Originally governed by the Dutch as Dutch Guiana until 1954 and at that time was designated as one of The constituent countries of The Kingdom of The  Netherlands next to The Netherlands and The Netherlands Antilles, (dissolved in 2010 ). On the 25th November 1975 The country of Suriname left the Kingdom of The Netherlands to become independent. Suriname is the smallest sovereign state in South America. The Capital City is Paramaribo
The card shows The national flag of The Republic of Suriname and some colourful local views.
