 THis is a recent relaese card from Australia Post in its "Wildlife "series.. A great card showing this huge Saltwater ( "salty") Crocodile located all over the Northern parts of Australia in The States of Queensalnd , The Northern Territory  and Western Australia.virtually hunted to extinction 60 or more Years ago mainly for their prescious skins.they are now a protected species and are back in huge numbers..  very Dangerous..  man killers !! Much vigilance is needed by foreign visitors when in their vicinity and  their danger  should not be treated lightly
   I visited the north many times and had the privelege to observe these monsters  in the natural environment !!! One of the oldest  reptiles.on the planet they grow to a huge size.

Another card that is a first day release "Maxi card" from Oz Post in the "Endangered species " series. This card shows The Western Swamp Tortoise ( Pseudemydura umbrina ) also known as the "Western Swamp water Turtle "who's numbers are extremely endangered and is only found in a few locations.is a fresh water short necked Turtle and is the sister "Taxon" of all other members of the sub family chelodininae. Adult males do not exceed a length of  155mm or a weight of 550 grams , females are smaller and not growing beyond 135mm in caraspace length or a weight of 110 gr. hatchlings have a caraspace length of 24-29 mm and weigh between 3.2 and 6.6 gr. .This turtle is the smallest chelid found in Australia..and listed as critically endangered.

A happy card from Fiji showing a local Fijian woman holding a Banded Iguana a local species of Iguana one of a couple of different species of Iguanas in Fiji the rare one being the Crested Iguana..but they are lovely and colourful  I like reptiles and this is a lovely card..Thanks Greig..

SOUVENIR CARD POSTED HOME FROM CALIFORNIA.

California : USA.

 A lovely souvenir card from my visit to the Mount Diablo State Park recently in California.  A day trip to this park was most enjoyable although the hairy ride to the top was interesting..The Card shows The Western Diamondback Rattlesnake.also known as (the coon tail rattler ) and is capable of delivering a fatal bite. It is active late in the day and at night choosing to bypass the heat of the day in the hot summer months.Found in arid and semi arid areas and has a lifespan over over 25 years..Thank you Orland  and Cora for taking me to this great National Park..
