 This is an amazing sight to see  This ..the Cathedral of St. Basels the blessed located in Moscow..  I was really facinated by this Cathedral abd I really enjoyed my visit there to see  this famous landmark for myself, On my "Around the World" by train journies.  What a lovely card of The Cathedral in Cologne ..  also of the boat on the Rhine..  a lovely card Thank you again Frank for this Card ..a nice skyline view of Cologne city. This is a Unesco World Heritage site and is interesting to see about the construction of this Cathedral was that the construction started in 1248 and lasted til 1880 to its completion..  WOW.. that is a long project !

THE "FUNICULAR" TRAMCAR AT RED CAR

 This was a marvellous road trip through this North Eastern part of  England with its beautiful seaside towns and many wonderful old historical sights to enjoy.. with the likes of Durham and its marvellous Unesco Heritage Cathedral and also across The Palace Green its Unesco Heritage  Durham Castle., A truly magnificent Cathedral dating back to 1093 AD..To say that this is a huge cathedral is an understatement a walk through the interior is awesome.,Also, I noticed it was the location of prayer for the Famous Durham Light Infantry a truly famous Regiment of the British Army.. There were so many wonderful places to visit I can only show a few..A visit to Whitby and the Home of Captain James Cook who discovered Australia in the name of the British Queen and took posession of same. A walk to the top of the hill overlooking the lovely little seafaring Town of "Whitby" is the castle that was the inspiration  for the book to be penned "Dracula."From here we drive to Red Car., another lovely seaside town with its funicular tramcar that delivers you to and from the beach.Here we enjoy an ice cream as it is a warm English day...next stop is the town of Hartlepool .The first town to be shelled by a German war ship in 1914.
Here also I see one of my favourite and loveable cartoon Character"Andy Capp" drawn by a local cartoonist  for the papers of the world. Thank you so much Barbara and Terry for making this trip possible.
This was souvenir postcard that I got from my road trip and visit to Durham and other locations nearby.. This was a most enjoyable trip to parts of England that I never got to see while living here. This was on my "Around the World by Train " journey . For it was here now that I could pick up my new credit card that had been stolen when I was robbed in Ulanbataar Mongolia and so good to be financial again after what seemed to be a very long time..     Posted home  June 2010.

The Cathedral of the Dormition or Kutasai Cathedral more commonly known as the Bagrati Cathedral is the 11 th Century Cathedral church in the city of Kutaisi and the region of Imereti Georgia.The Cathedral was officially rebuilt on September 23 rd September 2012.. after extremely heavy damages ages ago, served as a masterpiece in the history of modern and medieaval Georgian Architecture. This 11th century Cathedral is a prominent landmark in the scenery of Central Kutaisi .
 In 1994 Bagrati Cathedral togeather with the Gelati Monastery was included in the World Heritage Site . Then in July 2010 Unesco added The Bagrati Cathedral to its list of Historical Sites in danger due to the restoration programme in progress at the time. This now Georgian Orthodox Church is limited to worship services and attracts many pilgrims and tourists.
