Thank you Shelley for thinking of me on your recent trip. This card shows an old poster card of The "Glacier National Park" located in Montana on the border with Canada's Provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. The Park encompasses a large area of  one million acres ( 4,000 KM2 ) and includes parts of two mountain ranges ( sun Ranges of The Rocky Mountains,) The region that became The Glacier National Park was firstly inhabited by Native Americans and was dominated by the "Blackfeet" in the east and the "Flatheads " in the western regions.
  A crowd in Excess of 4,000 gathered atop Logan Pass in The Glacier National Park on July 15th 1933. They not only celebrated the memory of Americas first National Park director , Stephen T. Mather but witnessed the dedication of what began as the "Trans-Mountain Highway" that took Architects , engineers and construction workers nearly 20 years to complete Mather's vision of what became Glaciers  "Going to the Sun Road"

 Montana is variously named the "The Land of Shining Mountains". " The Treasure State" , and "Big Sky Country."Each name tells part of the story about this land of majestic alpine vistas, rich mineral deposits, and seemingly endless skies arching over miles of Forrest, Prairies, Farmlands, Rivers ,Lakes, and Badlands.  Montana is the fourth most extensive State of the 50 States of The United States of America. Montana is also the northern most state of The Western Mountain States. The territory of Montana joined the Union as the 41st State on  November the 8th 1889. The State Capital is Helena and the largest City is Billings.

Great Falls: MT.

 What a lovely colourful card of this view of the Big Butte in Montana.. This state amazingly, of  open plains and huge grasslands was something to see.. So, from the window in the observation car  where I was a passenger on the famous "The Empire Builder " Train journey that I took last year from Seattle WA  to Chicago IL. crossing Montana was really something.. a huge vastness not unlike the huge open spaces here in Australia..Thank you so much Rob for taking time out to find me a card on your trip across this 'The big Sky Country in Montana..Thanks so much..Rob.

This lovely state card of the USA is titled " Alpine Glow " and is easy to see as the afternoon glow of the sun setting on the mountains. A lovely pink surreal colour ..Thank you Rob for this card..nice.
