Australias National Flag incorporates the Union Jack , Southern Cross ,and Federation Star .The flag was chosen by a competition that was held in 1901.The year of Australia's Federation of States. The flag appaently had no legal status until The "Flags Act of 1953 was Passed.
(note) The Union Jack can really only be called the Union Jack when it is flying on a British Naval vessels "Jack Staff" it really should be called The Britsh" Union Flag "
An ever increasing number of Australians want this flag to be changed to our "Own Flag"and to an independent nation.
