The card shows The Emancipation Proclamation of the United States of America...
President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st. 1863 . The proclamation declared that all slaves would be set free , however despite the expansive wording it only applied to states that had seceded from the Union.and their freedom depended on a Union Victory.While it did not end slavery, the Emancipation Proclamation enraptured millions of Americans and completely transformed the character of the Civil War.. Thank you Arnold for this very informative card..
