Malaysia.

Sabah: MALAYSIA.:

A lovely train card...so nice to receive a black / white card also..Thank you Fiona...and yes you know I like train cards..This particular train has a bit of a colourful history..: Known as The "Marudu" a 0-4 2T. 1.0 meter gauge wood burning steam locomotive. She was initially built for The British BorneoExploration CompanyLimited in 1905.and assigned to the Manganese mining operations in Tanjong Batu Marudu Bay.
After these operations were closed  c.1909 the "Maradu "eventually found a second lease of life in Jesselton end of 1912. After the Japanese occupation she was the second steam locomotive to be made operational by the Australian Army and was photographed hauling a troop train in November 1945 when they occupied the area from the Japanese forces. She was scrapped in 1954.
Thank you so much Fiona for this great historical card..also the lovely stamps and historical postmarks.
