Around the Phillipine Islands.

Bohol :PHILIPPINES :

This is another souvernir post card that I sent home from my recent visit to the Island of Bohol in The Philippines.. A truly lovely  Island and  a break from the polution from all the traffic in Manilla and Cebu.. A fast ferryboat gets you from Cebu Island to Bohol Island in a few hours.. The beach here in Panglao was a great retreat with a gret little place to stay and lots of fruit in the stalls on the beach..with also many bars and restaurants for local food and cold drinks. While here, I decided the best way that I could get to see the many things on offer was , I decided (which I seldom do ) was to get on a tour and with about another dozen people of many nationalities to get aboard the Van in Panglao.. the day was quite long actually as we covered many miles in the various places visited.. I most wanted to go to The Tasier wildlife Sanctuary which I really enjoyed..there were not that many people there.. and even in the dark conditions I managed a few good photographs of these amazing little guys with the huge eyes.. From there there were other stops like a butterfly farm   and a huge tree area..but I always wanted to see the " Chocolate Hills" named as their foliage in the dry times makes them look like their namesake. I was surprised how many places there were we visited during the day with various markets and locals selling their souvenirs

I am always happy when I get a postcrad from Friends in Vietnam as thay are always such lovely cards with breat subjects...like this card showing people working very hard in 40 plus degree heat retreiving salt after the evaporation at the Han Khoi Salt fields just north of the city of Nha Trang..The conical hats La Noi are so practical for the protection of the fierce suns heat.This is surely very hard work. what a great card  !!  and many thnks to my good friend Trang for sending me this and other lovely cards..Cam on.

 A real surprise card and a first for this area of Japan This is ShodoShima on Shodo Island in Japan that is located in the inland Sea of Japan and the name means literally " Small Beans".. There are two towns on the Island "Tonosho and Shodoshima comprising the district of Shozu. The Island is famous for the setting of the novel "Twenty four eyes" and its subsequent film adaption..The area was the first area in Japan to successfully grow olives and is sometimes known as the "Olive Island ".

This is a really nice card showing this native American dressed in National Dress  This little Lakota girlis called Kate Blue Thunder and is eight years old !All her clothes and the doll that she is holding are all carefully handcrafted by the elderly women of the tribe using leather  , beads and coulored cloth given by friends,,a really nice card..

This is once again a lovely card from a good  friend in Vietnam.This card shows a group of  "Cham" peoples.. one of many different ethnic groups in Vietnam and one of 54 different ethnic groups.. These particular groups o" Cham people" are found in the centre of the country. Their culture is unique to this group.  The card sees the Cham women all carrying locally made pots on their heads..  A great card for my collection of various ethhnic peoples.  Thank you so much Trang for this fine colourful card.

Around The Philippine Islands

PANGLAO  BOHOL ISLAND.

 After the fast ferry from Cebu  to Bohol  traveled to the beach at Panglao..  A lovely place where I had great accomodation  that was a five minute walk to the beach .. here I really enjoyed a couple of weeks in the sun on a lovely beach with clear blue water.. The area was very clean  with lots of accomodation places  bars o the beach ..with very alive night life.with people from everywhere..also so may restaurants .with great food selection I was surprised at how many Korean buisinesses there were in  Panglao ..Here I also took a really good tour of Bohol and many things that I wanted to see...
