Darwin : NORTHERN TERRITORY :
This is a lovely recently released card of The Litchfield National Park in the Northern Territory Australia. I have visited This National Park and like Australian National Parks is full of wildlife and usually off the beaten track . The card shows the Florence Falls.
. I managed to visit this Park with a bunch of likewise travellers from the hostel where I was staying a lovey hot day and great for a swim to cool off. I will atatch a couple of pics from my visit there.
The Litchfield National Park is located south of Darwin The capital city of the Northern Territory.. Th nationa Park covers an area of over 1500 KM/ 2.. located very close to the city of Batchelor. The Litchfield National Park was proclimed a National Park in 1986 and Named after Frederick Henry Litchfield a Territorian explorer . Common wildlife species that are common to the area are The Antilopine Kangaroo, the agile wallaby ,the sugar glider, the southern brushtailed possum ,the fawn antechnius, and various types of flying fox. and the ghost bat. Also native to the area is an abundance of various birds, cockatoos, parrots When driving here there are many huge magnetic Termite Mounds.. that really dot the landscape..The area also was very popular for its Uranium deposits..The Aboriginal peoples have lived in this areas for thousands of years and is very important to Kungarakan and Murrannunggu people whoes ancestral spirits are still consisered to be actively present within the landscape. The park sees about 340 000 visitors per / year .
