Mangalore : India

Here we see a great big black and white card showing the magnificent Steam Locomotive The WP 7015 being shunted out of the Dehradun Shed for the Doon Railway Centenary. This powerful broad Gauge steam locomotive is really India's glory in Steam locomotives.Called the WP in the coding system of the railways signifies that it is a broad gauge  Passenger - it was pressed into service in 1947 and pulled most pretigous railway trains with a wheel structure of 4-6-2 and a driving wheel size of 67 inches. The WP can haul up to 16 coaches and is typified by the star that is painted on its nose. The WP # 705 was manufactured in 1959 in Charznow Poland. The last WP locomotive was manufactured in 1957 at The Chitranjan Locomotovive works in Bengal..
