This card shows one of the facets of the rural side of Kansas.. Known for its huge expanses ..Fencing is always a problem ..Here it is known as The Land of Post Rock...The Stone posts are normally from 5 1/2 to 6 feet in length and weigh between 350 and 400 pounds each..Today there are more than 40,000miles of Stone Post fences in an area of Kansas that extends from about 200 miles from Washington county in the northeast to Hodgeman county in the south west.The width of the area varies frm10 to 40 miles..
