ABORIGINAL WOMEN OF THE WESTERN DESERT'S DAILY EQUIPMENT |
Sydney AUSTRALIA:
This is a souvenir card That I got on a recent visit to the Australian Museum in Sydney.an interesting card on Aboriginal women's daily implements and equipment. in the western desert, The stout mulga or ironwood digging stick with its sharpened end hardened in the fire was used for unearthing , roots, small marsupials and reptiles. The wooden dishes called "coolamons" were for carrying water and a vast variety of foods ranging from grass seeds and fruits ,,,grubs and lizards...sometimes they were also used for cradles for babies .The grinding stones for preparing flour from grass seeds were not usually carried around but were left at various campsites ready for subsequent visits..
