Hawaii is the most recent of the 50 US States and joined the Union on August the 21st 1959. Hawaii is the only State that is located in Oceania and the only State made up entirely of Islands.it is the northern most group in Polynesia occupying most of an Archipeligo in the Central Pacific Ocean.
Hawaii's diverse natural scenery, warm tropical climate and an abundance of public beaches, oceaneanic surroundings,and active volcanoes make it a popular destination for tourists (wind ) surfers, biologists and Vulcanologists alike. Due to its mid Pacific location Hawaii has many North American and Asian influences along with its own vibrant native culture. The capital City is Honolulu on the Island of Oahu.The eight most popular Islands are from Northwest to Southeast, Ni'ihau, Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i ,Lana'i, Kaho'alawe , Maui and The Island of Hawaii. The last is the largest and often called "The big Island ".The Archipeiligo is part of the sub region of Oceania. Hawaii is the 8th smallest and the 11th least populous but the 13th most densely populated of the 50 US States. Hawaii is the only US State that is not located in the Americas and the only state with an Asian plurality. Hawaii and Alska are the only two states not in the contiguous United States.
