Maclean : N.S.W.

This really colourful card is a souvenir from my visit here to this lovely northern N .S .W. town of Maclean.  As seen by the card this is a town with a vast Scottish heritage, as is a lot of this area claiming more clans than in Scotland..One can only be impressed by the locals pride in their heritage is when driving into the town you see that all the telegraph poles carry a different painted clan
tartan.
Maclean is located 700 kilometers north of Sydney and sits on the banks of the Clarence river. This area established in the 1860's and known locally as "Rocky Mouth" has two other prominent towns with this proud Scottish heritage and those are Grafton..(known for its beautiful Jacaranda trees and festival ) and Glenn Innes (known for its standing stones ). There is a large Scottish Gathering held here each Easter time celebrating  their Scottish heritage with  visitors coming from far and wide for the event. This was a great visit also a chance to see friends here..
