Sikkim is a landlocked State of India landlocked in the Himalayan mountains . The State is bordered by Nepal to the West., China's Tibet Autonomous Region to the east and north and Bhutan to the east. The Indian stse of West Bengal lies to the south.,Sikkim is the least populous State in India and the second smallest State after Goa in total area. Sikkim is nonetheless geographically diverse due to its location in the Himalayas., THe climate ranges from sub- tropical to Alpine and "Kangchenjunga" the worlds third highest peak is located on Sikkim's border with Nepal. Sikkim is a very popular tourist destination owing to its culture,spectacular scenery and biodiversity. This also is the only open land border between India and China. Sikkim's largest City and Capital is Gangtok. On May 15th 1975 The President of India ratified a Constitutional amendment that made Sikkim the 22nd State of India.
