I love castle postcards and this one is truly amazing located in Slovenia and originally built inside a cave,Thank you So Much Vera..appologies for not putting this card on here sooner as it arrived while I was away travelling and got mixed up with cards that I had already uploaded...hugs for this card ..I love it and thank for taking the time out while travelling to send it to me.Must have been wonderful to stay in this castle.
PREDJAMA CASTLE:
This Castle is a renaissance Castle built within a cave mouth and is located in Southern Central Slovenia in the historical region of Inner Carniola in the village of Predjama that is 11 kilometers from the town of Postojna. The Castle was first mentioned in 1274 with the German name Luegg ,when the Pariarch of Aquileia built the Castle in its Gothic style.The Castle was built under a rocky arch high up in the stone wall to make it very dificult to access. Later it was aquired and expanded by the Luegg noble family known as The Knights of Adelsberg (The German name of Postojna. )
