Gera is the third largest city in Thuringia ,Germany with 196,000 inhabitants , located 55 kilometers (34 miles) south from Leipzig , 75 kilometers (47 miles ) east of Erfurt and 120 kilometers (75 miles) west of Dresden. Gera lies within a hilly landscape in the east of Thuringia within the wide valley of the Weisse Elster River.
