This card shows The ant eating Echidna., usually a very shy animal but can be seen quite often even around city areas in the local bushland...Usually seen camouflaged in leaf litter. Also known as a "Spiny Anteater" this Echidna is a monotreme and belongs to the family of egg laying mammals. The four extant species togeather with the "Platypus" are the only surviving members of that order and are the only extant mammals that lay eggs.Their diet consists of ants and termites. and their colour is usually black or brown. They live in Australia and New Guinea and are in no way realted to the American Ant eaters.
