Called postcard - a Group of Jewish boys with the teacher. Samarkand. This is a picture of Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii. He was the first photographer in the Russian Empire. In 1902, Prokudin-Gorskii made the first post about how to get color photos. In 1909 - 1912 photographer has travelled to various parts of the Russian Empire (the Mariinsky canal system, the Upper Volga, the Urals, Western Siberia, the Caucasus, Central Asia).
ReplyDeleteThe last major work of Prokudin-Gorsky were pictures taken by the state order in 1916 in the construction of the Murmansk railroad on its southern leg from Swanky to Kemi). From Kemi photographer rode on the White sea to the Solovetsky monastery and also captured it in photos. (Close now was a time when this monastery is one of the great spiritual centers of Russia - will be befouled and turned into a political prison.)
