ENTERING THE THEATRE.
A local Metro ride to the main  railway    station and then a local train to Selcuk .
The Ancient Greek City of Ephesus
is located  on the coast of Iona just 3
kilometers southwest of this town of Selcuk in Izmir Province. The city was built in The tenth Century BC on the former site of "Arzawan " Capital by Attic and Greek Colonists. During the classical Greek era it was one of the twelve cities of The Ionian League. The city flourished after it came under the control of The Roman Republic in 129 BC. According to estimates Ephesus had a population of between 33,600 to 56,000  in the Roman period making it one of the largest cities in Asia Minor after "Sardis " and Alexandria Troas " This City was famous for its Temple of Artemis completed around 550 BC and one of "The Seven Wonders" of the ancient world.
( Thank you Wikipedia for information.)

Upon  leaving the train station and entering the main street one is immediately struck by the ancient ruins, many columns from and old building that was a part of this huge and amazing complex that is Ephesus..We sit down and have a local coffee...so good this coffee. think I am turning into a Turkish coffee addict..across the road we get a local mini bus that takes us and other visitors to the major site of Ehpesus just a few minutes away...an entry fee of about $ 20.00 AU and we are looking at the many souvenir shops that are in an abundance around what is the entrance.. I am really in awe as this is truly an amazing sight.. I have seen many sites like this but this just appears to be in such great condition..although there is much restoration work being carried out in various parts of the ancient City...The first wonder is the 'Theatre" this amphi-theatre is huge and I wonder how many it holds.. and what they watch and do here...who has sat in my seat where I am sitting !!! Once again it is a very hot day and I am so pleased that the weather , wherever I go here is just wonderful...There is so much to see and do here I will make another 'Post" of Ephesus as I would like to add more photos..A whole afternoon is spent here and although there are some visitors also there is not too many which makes for great "photo ops" ..from here I go to another wonder not far up the road."The Library of Celsus".
