Adelaide : SA. ( Journey #2 )
This is another card that I sent home from "Parklands Railway Terminal" Adelaide South Australia. This journey from Adelaide is once again on the" Indian Pacific " this time from Adelaide to Perth Western Australia. This is another long and (for me ) interesting Train journey that is part of my "Around The World by Train" adventure..The train platform is littered with back packs a good sign that there will be many interesting travelers to talk to over the next few days on the train between here and Perth..The train departs Adelaide" Parklands Terminal" on time 18.45. Time to settle in now for the 40 hour journey ahead. The train will stop twice in this period at Cook (for water ) in the middle of The Nullabour Plains (which has the longest stretch of straight rail line in the world) a distance of 478 kilometers ( 297 miles )., and then late in the evening of day 2 it also stops again at Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, famous for its rich an abundant goldfields. The train arrives in Perth Central at 09.15 on day three after traveling 2,260 kilometers from Adelaide..This is another of the worlds great train journeys of the world and one of many various train trips that I will take over the next few months. One thing that I enjoyed on this train was the hot showers and free towels and soap. as I was traveling budget and in a" Sleep Seat " No other train I encountered in the world offered this service.. ADELAIDE PARKLANDS CENTRAL TO PERTH CENTRAL STATION 2260 KLMS.
