CHIANG MAI.: 
 My next destination after my interesting visit to the Old City of Sukothai heading north is Chiang Mai . My card shows a typical scene that is often found in Thailand and that is the Mahouts and their Elephants,  here seen having a wash in the river.. I really enjoyed Chiang Mai but my visit was shorter than I had anticipated as I had to organise a flight in Luangprabang in Laos as there were no train available for me to travel on throughout the country. This lovely peaceful country is still picking up the pieces of its infrastructure after the devistation  bought on by the Vietnam war. All my travels here were by bus and"Cyclos" Nevertheless I still got to see much of the city and outlying areas while there. Here also are many Chedis and wonderful Temples to see and visit. I visited a very interesting Elephant  Farm at Mae Sa while there watching elephants paint pictures with very small paintbrushes amazing..This is a souvenir card that I posted home from Chiang Mai 19 June 2009.
