This was a really enjoyable day with a visit to the German town of Hahndorf located in the high country outside Adelaide.. South Australia.. They certainly do it well here as most of the residents are related to the original German settlers from the 1800's.. They were experts at growing the much needed fresh vegetables for the local community and the city of Adelaide.. this is an icon of a little Town with the German influence and still proud of their original Heritage, so much in evidence.. Great Bratwurst and Potato Salad ( my favourite ) and a few cold German Lowenbrau beers Originally named The Australian Arms Hotel transferring to the present site in 1863. Then changed the name to the Union Hotel it was named the Hahndorf Inn in 1972 originally built as a single story ,a second floor was added in the 1880's The bottle shop next door was originally a blacksmiths...Oh! and don't forget to try the advertised "Bum Burner " sausages..
A souvenir postcard posted home. This was a day side trip by local bus to Hahndorf from Adelaide City one of many paces visited while staying there on my "Around the World by Train" journey.
