This is a lovely colourful card just received from a friend and card swapper in Gahan..The card shows a native Ghanaian girl in colourful dress The bangles I am told are to accentuate her waist...looks good to me..Thank you Linda for this lovely colourful card and also the many beautiful stamps.

I have just received some lovely cards from a friend in Ghana.where at the time it was 16.47.GMT and 26 degrees C on 23 June  .Thank you so much Linda..This colourful card shows many local boats  many used for fishing .Thank you for this lovely card and stamps..

GHANA : has an area of 238,535KM2.:and is located in West Africa.
POPULATION : of Ghana is 27,043, 093 inhabitants.
CAPITAL CITY of Ghana is Accra.
UNIQUE : The Ghanaian Kente cloth is woven fro silk and cotton and was originally held in such high esteem that only royalty and nobility would wear it.
CURRENCY : Ghanaian currency meant cowry shells in the past , the shells from the snails were used as currency.
FAMOUS : Lake Volta one of the largest man made lakes in the world. The surface area covers 8,502 KM2.
ATHLETICS: Ferdi Ato Abobe this athlete holds the world's record for walking backwards ..100 Meters in 13.6 seconds and a hundred yards in 12.7 seconds.
HISTORY : Name Origin and Meaning .Ghana's name means "warrior king ".and is named after that medieval West African Ghanaian empire circ.300-1200.
INDEPENDENCE: Ghana obtained Independence on the 6th March 1957 from the United Kingdom.

What a surprise with also another great card from this destination..Thank you so much dear Lili. also for your many kind words attatched... The card is a very colourful multi- view card showing the traditional Ghanaian festival celebrated by the people of "Oclumare"  located in the Eastern Region of Ghana and is known as the DIPO..This festival is celebrated in the month of April and is a time that ushers in the puberty girls that are virgins and signifies that any girl partaking of this ceremony is of an age for marriage .This ritual rite is performed by a special ritual mother and signifies the girls transition from girl to woman.
