Philippines

Cavite. Corregidor PHILIPPINES.:

Thank you Chloe for this card.. You know I love this miltary history from there.. Card shows some ruins on Corregidor  Island (known as the "Rock " )that was heavily fortified in  WWII.  Located at the entrance of Manilla Bay in the south western part of Luzon.  Due to its location Corregidor was fortified with coastal Artllery and ammunition magazines to defend the Entrance to the Manilla Bay. Corregidor played an important role during the invasion and the liberation of The Philippines from Japanese Forces in WWII.

Philippines.

Corregidor: PHILIPPINES:

This card card arrived yesterday from the Philippines ...once again a great card that I chose for a swap.. The card shows a pair of large Mortars standing quiet now in their emplacements but back in 1940's these heavy mortars were smoking in an effort to fend off the attacking Japanese forces.. This was an Island Fortress and the last bastion of defence west of Manilla and saw lots of gallantry here , and as Corregidor  lies in the mouth of Manilla bay it was here that the forces of the USA and The local Phillipinos fought the Japanese and in many instances" hand to hand" to repel the invasion..
Thank you Chloe once again for a nice swap card and with lots of local military history.

Corregidor.: PHILIPPINES.:

This card from The Philippines shows the "Ruins of the Milelong Miliary Barracks on Corregidor .This building is an edifice to the Gallantry of the Philippino and US forces who defended Corregidor from the marauding Japanese Military Forces invasion in World War II. This card makes one reflect and wonder what this very scene would have been like in the early parts of the war. Thank you Chloe for this swap card.   Posted 16 October 2014.: arrived Sydney 04 November 2014.: Traveled 19 days.
