This card shows the State Bird of Pennsylvania " The Ruffed Grouse " and also The State Flower The Mountain Laurel..  These are just so nice these cards and always so clourful  Thanks again Arnold.

  What agreat card from a great friend  that has taken time out oon her visit to PA  to send me some cards  Once again Mel  Thank you so much mate and Boyd for thinking of me on your trip.I trust that it was fun..  The Card shows this famous "Crooner"  from the "sixties" period  Perry Como  who was a very popular singer and even had his own TV show .. This Memorial to this great vocalist  is to be found in Cannonsburgh PA.. thanks again Mel ..I love it !

Just received this lovely card from Pennsylvania USA.. from  Irma thank you so much for this card showing these local  "Amish"  people of Pennsylvania plodding along in their lovely horse drawn buggy .. These people lead a rather secluded life keeping to themselves and shunning modern technology . This is a surprise post card.

Thank you Ruby for this another of the Lighthouse cards that you have sent me.. I love them...you know That I do ...smile..This card shows the Land Lighthouse at Erie's End in Erie Pennsylvania.. This was the first lighthouse on all of the Great Lakes. The current lighthouse is the third lighthouse to be constructed on this site and was completed in 1867 and is located at the foot of Lighthouse Street.. Thank you Ruby for this nice card and will add to my collection.

Another "Did you Know " card for my collection thank you Arnold..never get too may of these cards I really like them..This card shows the house of the famous Betsy Ross..famous for sewing the first American flag with the 13 stars..
 Bettsy Ross born was born on January 1st 1752 and died January 30th 1836 :According to family tradition  who , upon a visit from General George Washington commander in Chief of the Continental Army in 1776 , Ross had changed the shape of the stars that he had drawn up for the flag from six pointed to five pointed by demonstrating on the spot that it was easier and speedier to cut the latter. Betsy Ross was chosen to sew the first American flag and George Washington agreed to use a circle of 13 stars so no one colony would stand above another..  another nice piece of History..        Thank you for this card Arnold.

Thnk you Bert for another great swap of these Civil War cards. This card shows various scenes of Gettysburg..During the battle of Gettysburg on July 2nd 1863 these massive rock forms (shown)wewre not only very defensive positions , but temporary graves formany fallen soldiers, as from these rocks Confederate snipers fired on union positions atop "The Little Roundtop" causing many casualties. Thank you Bert another great card and many great Civil War stamps from this great series.

 Thank you for this fine swap card Bert as you know that I really like the military history of the US civil war.. This card shows the two main players in this conflict that would go down as one of the most destructive engagements in U.S. Military history .Where in Gettysburg for the three days of July, the first to the third, of 1863, when over 150,000 troops of both Confederate and Union Forces engaged in a fierce Battle of human carnage that was to leave over 50, 000 casualties.
 Gettysburg was the Northernest most point that was reached by the Confederate Army and was known as "The High Water Mark" of the conflict for the Confederacy.  Thank you Bert..

Valley Forge. : PA ;

 The card shows The rear view of Washington's Headquarters in The Valley Forge National Historical Park.  Constructed about 1770 as a private house for Isaac Potts.This house was then rented by George Washington to use as his living and military quarters during the 1777-1778 winter encampment of the Continental Army at Valley Forge.  Thank you Melissa for this nice card..

A nice history card here showing the Liberty Bell and is prominent "crack".
    The Liberty Bell originally hung in the the Tower of the new State House (Independence Hall ) in in 1753, This Bell has greater significance than any other. The Bell was first used as a symbol of freedom by abolitionists prior to the Civil War. Today the Liberty Bel's Universal appeal is demonstrated by the more than one million visitors a year from all over the world. Thank you for this card Deirdre..Nice..
