Washington DC is the District of Columbia and a most wobderful city to visit with it many absolutley wonderful Museums and monuments to be seen  One needs a long time to take in and see what this amazing city has to offer..   A great black / white card that shows Thee March on Washington DC for" Jobs and Freedom ". The speach by Martin Luther King on the steps of The Lincoln Memorial was the "Grand Finale " of The March on Washington on August 28th 1963 "For Jobs and Freedom ". The march was lead by the union leader A.Phillip Randolph  and organisr Bayard Rustin drew 200,000 supporters and of that 50,000 were white .They included clergy of every faith ,students, blue and white collar workers and many celebrities.

Thank you Elena for this joint card swap of the Centennary of  WWI. this was a joint swap between friends to commemorate the service of our nations in this horrendous conflict. The card shows the Executive Office Building in Washington DC adjacent to the White House this building once housed the offices of the State, War Department , and the Navy and was formerly known as the State,War  and Navy Building .The former office of the seretary of the Navy has been occupied by every US Vice President since 1960.President Bill Clinton renamed the building The Dwight D Eisenhower Executive Office Building at a ceremony on the 9th of November 1999.Mark Twain called it the ugliest building in America.!

What a magnificent view of this lovely old Railway Station in Washington DC..I must say that this lovely Station has some great memories for me arriving and leaving here on Various Amtrak trains.. This card shows the recently renovated main Waiting Room of Union Station and is truly impressive with its 96 foot high coffered ceiling gilded with eight pounds of Gold leaf...beautiful .I must return soon again and look at this beautiful restoration.Thank you so much Karen for this really lovely card

What a great card.. Thanks Mel you always make me smile with the cards that you send me..This card is of The Union Station In Washington DC.This is the a major Train Station, Transport hub and leisure destination and was opened in 1907. This is also Headquarters of Amtrak rail network America and is the second busiest Station in The country. with an annual ridership of over five million  .I guess Chicago must be first,,as that is huge. This is a most beautiful Station and I have caught some major train journeys here ..There is also a great food hall here to be enjoyed too between journies .Thank you so much for this great card Mel ..I love it !

This is a lovely card of The Korean War Veterans Memorial that is located in the Mall in Washington DC..This is a most vivid memorial with the lifelike statues of 19 soldiers depicted as they were in Korean combat.I have visited this and all the many wonderful and thoughtful Memorials in This Mall in Washington DC..Thank you so much Len for this card..I like it a lot.

Happy New Year to all my friends and followers of my blog... Thank you all and may you all have a wonderful year of 2018.
This is my first card for 2018.. Arrived today and is a lovely card showing three of the Washington Monuments of DC. (bottom) The Lincoln Memorial, (centre) The Washington Monument  and at the (rear ) of the scene is The Capitol Building. This is truly a lovely part of the Washington DC with its treasure trove of museums and monuments...I really love this part of the city and spent many days in and around here taking in all that there is to see...and that is immense.if you have never visited this city!! make sure to add it to your "bucket list"..Thank you Vinnie and Boo for this lovely card .

 A nice card of this popular memorial in Washington DC and is the memorial to Thomas Jefferson.  The Thomas Jefferson Statue is located inside the Memorial and faces towards The White House and was built to represent the age of enlightenment and of Jefferson who was a philosopher and a statesman. The Bronze stattue is 19 feet tall and weighs five tons. Thank you Arnold for this swap.and also the nice stamps... I visited this monument when I was in DC..and it has an interesting history..

What a great card and another surprise from the Lovely Melissa...hank you so much for this great card ..I am sure this must be a new Monument as I never saw this in the time I spent in DC..The card shows the memorial to Franklin Delano Roosevelt . The 32 President of The United States of America,A truly revered President who under difficult conditions steered The United States through the Great Depression of the thirties and through the Second world War . A president remembered today as one of the best..Thanks Mel I love this card and next visit to DC will visit this memorial.

A favourite expression of FDR was " The only thing that we have to fear is fear itself. A man who truly knew the meaning of the word courage. Despite being stricken with polio and paralized from the waist down he emerged a a true leader guiding America through some of its darkest days.This FDR Memorial located in Washington DC honours this man ,  his story , and his beloved dog.
