Kuranda : Queensland.

 A great card of the  "Kuranda Train"  Painted in its indigenous livery, meanders over The large Tressled  Bridge as it passes Stoney Creek Waterfall on its way to the Rain Forrest town of lovely Kuranda..This is a marvelous train journey through the Rain Forrest.There are many waterfalls to be seen along the route and the train makes a15 minute stop a t a huge waterfall where all passengers can take photographs etc. and the small town is a great place to spend the day..although the temperatures are very humid in far north Queensland one notices the pleasure of the coolness in the Rain Forrest. This is an exceedingly scenic train journey. The Kuranda Train runs daily from Cairns Central Station to Kuranda.The train can be expensive but is possible to just buy a one way ticket and return to Cairns Central by bus very cheaply.
 This is a souvenir card that I got when in Kuranda .. A day road trip with friends.one of many stops,  on my "Around the World by Train" journey. Also here is Located "Bird World" a location with a huge Aviary with the most beautiful Australian and foreign birds to be seen. in such a tame environment.Really well worth a visit.

  MY TRAIN FROM BANYUWANGI TO SURABAYA.   THE MUTIARA TIMUR.                                                                                                                BOROBODUR.:                                "The Worlds Largest Buddhist Stupa." To visit this amazing site is to be in awe ..This is Borobodur located in Java Indonesia..The worlds Largest Stupa and one of the top Ten Temples in The World..This card is from  my visit here on a very wet Javan day...This was the sixth of the Top Ten Temples of The World that I have visited..Two are located here in Java Indonesia. Borobodur and Prambanan.  Borobodur is one of the most amazing places that I have ever visited spending the whole day at the complex..Tis is a souvenir card  from my visit while on my "Around The World by Train" journey across Indonesia.

                                                              "  PRAMBANAN "                                                                                                    This lovely card  (above ) shows the amazing scene of many to be seen Here in this huge Complex of Prambanan. This the The Sewu Temple (above card ) that is a Mahayana Buddhist Temple that lies about a kilometer north of the Main Prambanan site. Prambanan is one of the Top Ten Temples of the world and another that I have come to see as there are two here in Central Java Indonesia and they are Prambanan and the biggest Stupa in the world Borobodur.. This is also a Unesco World Heritage Site.The day is extremely hot and humid.I join two other travelers from the hostel in hiring car and driver for the day for our visit here..This is a huge complex spread out out over a vast area and notice the huge amount of damage from a recent earthquake that has been done here and can see that there is so much to do in the reparation of these structures..This is an amazing site to visit..

  A classic card from Bali depicting the local Taman Ayun Temples..This is very lovely to visit always so nicely kept gardens with lovely tropical flowers and trimmed lawns..Bali is mainly Buddhist unlike the rest of Indonesia which is muslem. One must have your legs covered in tradition and lava lavas are issued to foreign visitors to cover up...This is also  very hot and humid destination. This is a souvenir card that I posted home from here in Bali on my visit to this part of Indonesia. in 2011.this was a part of my journey through Indonesia on My "Around the World by Train Journey ( # 3 )

Darwin : N.T.                                                  " Sunset Mindil Beach"
  The best sunsets that I have ever seen have been here on Mindil Beach in Darwin..Thursday and Sunday nights local residents all flock to the beach for a BBQ and a few cold ones..and take in the these incredible markets with foods from every country here in Asia and the tropics..The markets are held two nights a week where most locals will get an "esky" ( cooler ) fill it with their favourite brand of "coldie "and head off to the beach (where the markets are held ) and get a spot to watch the evening  sunset while eating some of the most varied food that I have ever seen.Darwin is a favourite stop for me and have been here a few times now,, I think it's being able to go away in the southern winter in OZ and wear a pair of shorts and a singlet..The sunsets here are the most amazing that I have ever seen and managed to get a few nice photos myself..
 This card is a souvenir of my stay here in Darwin.  Also this was another wonderful (long ) stop on my Around the World by Train" journey.

FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND

A DAY AT THE BEACH.

  Located North of Cairns in far north Queensland Port Douglas is an idylic place to spend some time as I did recently..The beaches are extremely well kept as are all the local lawns and Gardens ,tropical flowers are in abundance everywhere..sometimes these beaches get devistated by local cyclones..but are always restored to their natural states..Swimming sometimes can be a major problem as the box jellyfish tend to proliferate the local waters as do the" Irakanji" another type of jellyfish that can deliver fatal stings if not attended to immediately..ALL beaches in Northern Queensland have boxes on the beaches containing" vinegar"  that are (lifesavers ) takes the sting out of the bite..These are all well signed and there are usually lifeguards on the beaches in Australia and here in Queensland relate the daily information of the beach also usually signed with the conditions , water temperature etc..This is a beautiful part of the world and mother nature shares it with everyone..
 This is a souvenir card posted home from my visit here. This was a stop that I visited a few times while staying in Cairns on my 'Around the World by Train " journey...I see it was 28 degrees warm and humid that day..Posted 24 May 2011

Indonesia

A DIFFICULT DAY   RAINING VERY HEAVILY.

SO NICE TO BE BACK BY THE SEA.

BOROBODUR :   THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING PLACES THAT I HAVE VISITED.

GREAT STAMPS...YEAR OF THE RABBIT.

NOTHING LIKE FRESHLY OPENED COCONUT MILK.

 Borobodur.  JAVA.:  INDONESIA.;        SO HOT !!!  SO REFRESHING !!

 This absolutely amazing Unesco World Heritage Site  is called Borobodur..Located in Central Java in Indonesia This is the largest  Buddhist Temple (Stupa ) in the World . I traveled to this site as it is one of  "The Worlds Top Ten Temples". These top Temples are all as you can imagine to be just incredible sites..This is one of them. I am endeavouring to see all ten of these Temples. , they are scattered allover Asia. I was lucky posting this postcard as I got The local Post Office release of the Chinese Lunar New Year stamps ."The Year of The Rabbit".2011. This card was a souvenir of my visit to this amazing Temple on my "Around the World by Train" journeys  this part across Indonesia.
