United States of America

Vista CA  USA.

What a great surprise this card is !!! one of my all time favourite classic cars.. This card has just arrived and is a surprise swap from a fellow swapper in California.. This most wonderful card shows this magnificent 1956 Ford Thunderbird  V8 hardtop with the"classic"  hardtop portholes , wheel skirts , and the spare tyre "Corondo back deck" and white wall tyres. what a wonderful piece of Americana heavy metal .
The 1956 Thunderbird recalls the early days of automobiling when cars were made for fun moreso than function ability..These Thunderbirds.. and other "two seaters" were were sold as personal cars and quite often second cars ! in which motorists really enjoyed just driving them for their own sake .This Ford Thunderbirds owner , Fords engineer William Burnett had a personal relationship with it as he supervised the developement of the first Thunderbird   Thank you William Burnett !! What a "Classic" this car is.
Thank you so much Helen for this most welcomed card and will go straight into my favourites "

AH! The Oscar Mayer  "Wienermobile" from 1952..is one of the worlds most famous productmobiles and looks like the product that it is advertising.Updated versions of this "Weinermobile" still travel across the US today .The 1952 Wienermobile is the oldest surviving example and can be seen at the Ford Motor Museum in Dearbourne Michigan. The Henry Ford Museum is a remarkable showcase of American innovation and has one of the largest collections of its kind ever assembled..

This truly is an amazing museum and I visited it on my "Around the USA by Train" Journey I also looked closely at this amazing vehicle made especially for the company..This is one of the greatest Museums that I have ever visited..being a Ford man and growing up with many various makes and models of fords...I also looked for and found many of the models that I used to own..outstanding.. Thank you so much Arnold for thinking of me on your recent visit to this amazing Museum..

Thank you Ann for thinking of me with this big colourful card from Route 66.. This is a trip that I would love to do one day..have done a little bit from Oklahoma City out about 50 miles but that is all..Thanks dear Ann this is a lovely colourful card..
Arizona is home to the longest stretch of which is one of twenty six different scenic by ways in Arizona, and much of it is still preserved by the local residents that lived it.History and nostalgia lie along the way on this classic road trip as it is a reminder of when there was a slower, simpler time before the Interstate Highway picked up the pace of today.Back then Route 66 was Main Street USA..

Detroit: Michigan: USA.

I really love to receive the "Did You Know " cards. They are so informative and don't arrive very often..This particular card shows Henry Ford ..the inventor of the "production line" of manufacturing of course Henry Ford became a worldwide name with it.

Henry Ford ( July 30 1863 -April 07 1947 ) The founder of The Ford motor Company and the father of the modern assembly lines used in mass production. His introduction of the Model "T " automobile revolutionised transportation and American industry. He was a prolific inventor and was awarded 161 U.S. patents. As owner of the Ford Motor Company he became one of the richest men in the world.
Recently I visited The Ford Museum in Dearborne Michigan and must say it is one of the best museums that I have ever seen. and well worth the visit if you are ever close by.especially if you loved the old Fords as I do...they are all there..amazing.   Thanks Arnold for this great card..
