Australia

Sydney : Australia.

What a great card !!   Mr. Emu. !This maxi card and also first day issue card shows Australias iconic Emu.. one of four large flightless birds in the worl..  I really love the postmark on this card .  Anyone diving in outback Australia wil come in contact or at least encounter these birds when driving..  they tend to just run across the highway and seldom are they alone and can cause majour damage and possibbly a very bad outcome if you hit on at speed..  I love this card  hope you do also.!

I love it..I must say they are great to see in the outback with a group of chicks just following along  ..but dangerous on the road.!!

This is one in a new series of Australian wildlife cards from OZ Post and the series is called "Flightless Birds" a recent first day release in Birdwood South Australia depicting the Cassowary. great card !! love the postmark.!! The Cassowary is one of a small gruop of "Flightless Birds" in the world.!

The Southern Cassowary (  Casuarius casuarius ) also known as the "Double Wattle Cassowary. The Cassowary is a large black flightless bird like the Emu and the Ostrich. The bird has a large horn like feature that sits on its head known as a "Casque" ..This bird feeds on the forrest floor of many tropical fruits and berries.. and can be very dangerous if approached especially with young .The coloured wattle beneath its beak is highly visible also very colourful..and can be seen in Northern Queenslands Rainforrests.
