ONE OF MANY POOLS AT PAMUKKALE

WISH I BROUGHT MY SWIMMERS !!
 Pamukkale.:
The small bus from Denzili dropped us at the gate of This Unesco Site and  was really excited about my visit...Pamukkale can be seen from many miles away sitting at the top of the mountain as we approached the area ..its vivid whiteness standing out in the morning sunshine..This really was a beautiful hot summers day to visit here the pools of Pamukkale. Although there were quite a few visitors there were so many various pools there was it seemed plenty of room to relax in the pools. I was sorry That I forgot my swimming trunks and would have loved to have had a soak in the pools as all others were doing..The pools water was quite warm but cooling nevertheless in the heat of the day after the long walk through Hierapolis..
Pamukkale means " Cotton Castle " in Turkish and is a natural site in Denzili Province in south western Turkey. The city is very popular for its hot springs and "Travertines " the terraces of carbonate minerals left by the cascading flowing water. Located in Turkeys Aegean region it has a temperate climate for most of the year. Thank you so much Sema for making this day so enjoyable..

MAIN THOROUGHFARE THROUGH HIERAPOLIS
Today sees another wonderful excursion out of Izmir and this time to Hierapolis and Pamukkale..I have so looked forward to visiting Pamukkale for some years and am really excited.. The journey starts with a Train journey to the city of Denzili and here we have a wonderful Turkish coffee before getting the smaller bus to The Town of Pamukkale.  My expectations are excited , as also here I get a surprise and that is the Ancient Greek  City of Hierapolis that lies close by Pammukkale and was an unexpected bonus for the day and most interesting.
Hieraplois is located in Denzili Province what was  ancient Phyrgia and its ruins lie adjacent to the modern Pamukkale in south western Anatolia.. Hierapolis means " Holy City " and was located on hot Springs here in ancient Phrygia and was famous for its baths, and it now the Ancient City currently comprises of an Archaelogical museum designated as a Unesco World Heritage site. The site contains a large "necropolis" and is filled with sarcophagi , most famously that of Marcus Aurelius Ammianos which bears the earliest known example of rod and crank mechanism. The hot springs have been used as a spar since the 2nd century BC. The baths were constructed using huge stone blocks without any form of cement.
This was a most interesting day with this visit here in Hierapolis and my lovely  host and guide Sema we now make our way to the "pools of Pamukkale...so excited  to be here..The day is really hot..
