United States of America.

Pearl Harbour:  Hawaii. USA.:

A really great card showing my favourite Ship..The USS Missouri..I visted this ship in Sydney Harbour also some years later in Pearl Harbour and is now a Naval museum to be found at Pearl Harbour ..All The batleships in this class ( Iowa Class ) have now been retired by the U.S. Navy and are all Museums to be found around various locations in The USA.
This particular card is special as it shows The Ships crew and midshipmen celebrating VJ  day  (Victory over Japans war in The Pacific.) on this midshipmens cruise September the 2nd 1949.They are gathered around the plaque on the deck that marks the spot where the Japanese Naval and armed Forces surrendered on September the 2nd 1945  (note)..Turret two is trained as it was on that day of the surrender and during the surrender ceremonies..Thank you Arnold ...love this card..I stood on the same spot while visiting this wonderful ship....Posted North Huston20 April 2015...Thanks mate.

United States of America

USA  Hawaii :    Oahu:                    "  Pearl Harbour Memorial "
Being a military History "buff" this was a place that I have always wanted to visit. To visit Pearl Harbour is a real experience as there are so many different sites here most are solemn places to commemorate the fallen on December the 7th 1941 when The Japanese attacked the Naval Fleet in Pearl Harbour sinking and also damaging most of the ships in the Harbour.. The most significant memorial here is the USS Arizona..one of the biggest Battleships in dock that day and sank with most hands.1100 were lost on the Arizona that day...To stand above this huge ship is to wonder of the day when these boys were in battle while being attacked and the little chance they had to retaliate..as I looked down on the sunken ship from the viewing platform a drop of oil came to the surface then sort of dispersed itself in a rainbow on the water...and I thought..wow..that has been in the bilge of that battleship since it went down.. This site is one of the most visited sites in The USA..
This card was posted home from Pearl Harbour as a souvenir of my visit..
