UNIQUE to Ethiopia is The Ethiopian calendar.contains 13 months and is 7 to 8 years behind the western calendar.
ETHIOPIA was founded in 980 BC ..Ethiopia comes from the Greek words "atho"  and "ops" which togeather mean "burnt face"
TEMPERATURE: Ethiopia has the highest average annual temperature 34 C degrees in Dallol in the eastern part of the country.
FAMOUS : Ancient Ge'ez script.also known as "Ethiopic" is one of the oldest alphabets still in use in the world.
COFFEE : "Arabica Coffee" is the most important export to Ethiopia and is where Arabica coffee originates.
ATHLETICS.: Abebe Bikila. won the 160 Olympic Games marathon in Rome While running barefoot.
HISTORY :Ethiopia is the only African country to defeat a European Colonial power and retain its sovereignty
ANCIENT TOOLS.: Stone tools uncovered in 1992 were 2.52 million years old and were the oldest tools ever discovered anywhere in the world.
ETHIOPIA : The Ethiopian Empire also known as Abyssinia existed between 1137 - 1974.

This is another really lovely card from Ethiopia.. This colourful card shows ans extremely happy "Hamer Woman "of Southern Ethiopia. in her national dress with her many beads and shell necklaces,,,and her hair done in the ochre coloured traditional style..love this card ..Thank you Solomon for this great card..

 This is the second card that arrived today from Ethiopia...amazing !!! Thank you for taking time out in your travels Inge to send me these cards.and as you mentioned how difficult it was there to not only find cards but also a post office to post them..The card shows  an exhibit at the National Museum .of the almost ( 40% ) complete skeleton 3.2 million years old of the famous "Lucy" a skeleton of a female found in 1974 in headasite/ far Ethiopia.
