I am lucky to have many different friends that swap cards with me . This lovely colourful card illustrates the lovely embroidery that is some of the widespread folk applied art that is to be found in Azerbaijan. The decorative embroidery was applied to various forms satin , breadcloth ,velvet , as well as by chainstitch using colourful silk threads  Nowadays an ancient school of embroidery has been kept in many towns of Azerbaijan and only differeing in the use of silk and woolen threads.. thank you Nuray for these lovely cards that you have swapped..

Lahij is a village and a municipality on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucases, and is a noteable place in Azerbaijan for its authentic handicrafts particularly related to copper .The village's carpet and rug crafts are also well known for their sewage systems in southern the southern Caucases and southern Azerbaijan.

This a lovely card showing the ancient crafts of Azerbaijan. all of these traditioal arts and handicrafts date back to ancient times and can be seen in embroidery , carpet weaving , ceramics , stone and wood engraving including the making of jewelry , making household goods out of leather and lace knitting are ancient arts .. They are the most lovely colourful cards This first card shows the woman with this musical instrument  in what appears to be a music shop !!! also the card has a lovely matching stamp..  The cards says : The musical instruments that are a national assett of Azerbaijan The people are distinguished by their richness and their variety of their cultural and material patterns works of poets classics , medieaval musicologists, and miniatures of painters afford grounds to assert that in olden times as many as 30 musical instruments were used in Azerbaijan ...Thank you Nuray for the information.

Another lovely colourful card from Azerbaijan and thanks again Nuray for this swap.This card shows an Azeri woman in local and traditional dress wearing the local Kelagayi.  The Kelagayi is a square head scarf for women and is made of silk. In the western part of Azerbaijan it is sometimes called a "Chorgat " A traditional Kelagayi is decorated with a frame and central symbols. Thank you again..

This is a really lovely colourful card and shows To Azeri women crafting their world famous carpets. These  Carpets and mats are world famous and command very high prices and are exhibited in the famous Museums of the world  These women are traditionally known as the finest of carpet weavers.
