IOWA : Located in Americas mid west the State of Iowa is referred to as " Americas Heartland " The State of Iowa is bordered by The Mississippi River to the east and The Missouri and Big Sioux Rivers to the west and is the only U.S. State that its eastern and western borders are formed entirely by rivers Iowa is bordered by Illinois and Wisconsin to the east and Missouri to the south.Nebraska to the west and south Dakota to the west and North and Minnesota to the north.In colonial times Iowa was part of Spanish Louisiana and French Louisiana , its current flag is patterned after the flag of France. After the Louisiana Purchase settlers laid the foundation for an agricultural based economy in the heart of the" Corn Belt "
Iowa is the 26th in most extensive land area and 30th most populous of the fifty States.The Capital and largest city is Des Moines. Iowa has been listed as one of the safest states in which to live .
Iowa was entered into the Union on December 28 1846 and was the 29th state to enter the union.
