This week afterr just so many days of rain my daughter Kristy organised a family day out to theNew South Wales Government Railways Train Museum..and as luck had it  it turned out to be a wonderful sunny day..The Children were so excited as they had never ridden a steam ttrain before .  We had booked tickets for the "Midday Flyer" and everyone was eagerly a wiating for the arrival of our steam engine !! The sound of train whsitles and steam clouds created excitement among the children there , the kids were loving it !!  and I must admit that I was also...The train arrived on time with many visitors on the platform and was plenty of room for all.  The old carriages with such lovely wooden interiors bought back many memories to te trains when I was a lot younger than I am  today.the train tavels out into the local areas for about 40 kilometers before the engine is removed and then does a swithback and the front then becomes the back for ur return journey... such fun !
 
   

I had not been ti the museum for some years and it was so good to get another dose of the nostalgia of all the fine engines of all types and a vast array of rolling stock there that was accessible to all visitors.I have added some of the many photos that I took o the day.. I hope that you enjoy this as much as I did..

This is The Lounge car  carriage of "The Southern Aurora" the \express that used to tavel between Sydney and Melbourne.. I loved the name.!

 I must admit that of all the sports that I like to watch  Cricket is my all time favourite, both  men and womens games .  I was so dumbfounded to hear of the sudden death of Shane Warne in Thailand ... so unexpected and so unbeleivable shock as he was only 52 years old.!   "Warnie "  has shaken the whole of  the  cricketting world with both hands with his passing ! A larger than life Aussie character Warnie will be missed by so many..  RIP Warnie . Thgreatest bowler of all time !

     AMMO AS A PUPPY  2006  

 A MEMORIUM  for my lovely boy Ammo  that was lost to us on the 6th day of September 2021. 
  I have had a huge problem being able to write this up as each time that I try , I am really  overwhelmed  by his loss and the tears are long and many.

 The day Shelley and I picked up Ammy  was a day of joy to receive this lovely little six week old  lively puppy.
  I had no idea then just how much this wonderful dog would enrich my life with his presence.. He bought with him so  many wonderful qualities  that only dogs  have..  friendship, loyalty , devotion ,companionship, fun and laughter and also his  unflinching security.      I always felt that he was always there for myself and all my girls  knowing that he  would be on guard for them and look after them at all costs...and he always gave me that complete peace of mind  with him being there..  a bark or a growl was enough to warn any intruder of his presence.
  Well my lovely boy you have left a void that I feel will be extremely hard to  fill as everywhere I look I see you there..Now.  when I open the door I still see you sitting there looking up and wagging your tail..  How I will miss you so ..after nearly sixteen years of devoted friendship and loyalty.. Wherever you have gone my lovely boy will be good for you now  no more pain .. and wherever it is I want to go there when my time arives also..You have taken a piece of my heart with you. I miss you so ! Goodbye my lovely boy !

AMMO....MY BLUNDER DOG !!

I have decided that just being home , and not travelling,  and also , not writing anything on my travel blogs I might as well still get on here now and again and say HI ! instead of just scanning and posting my postcards that I love to receive.. so..will give it a go.! This last couple of days has encouraged me to do so.

 June 6th.  The rain has stopped ...At last !! Sydney and the whole of the east coast of Australia has had and is still having a huge cyclonic weather depression just about drown us all.....I believe that it started new Brisbane and worked it was down the whole of the east coast over the last four days and upon reaching Sydney began battering the city and outlying areas over the next forty eight plus hours  , after leaving a heavily flooded and wind damaged trail of destruction behind it as it moves south down the coast...The winds were constant and very heavy ,  they mentioned around 125 kilometres / hour in many areas causing roofs to be torn off and many trees brought down with a litany of damage with cars floating also submerged in some streets in flooded areas., inundation of water in houses and shops..power outages in many areas..and literally chaos.everywhere it was happening.. When Mother Nature  gets "pissed off" she reacts in many different ways and this was extreme to say the least...so much rain in such a short period of time sometimes it appeared to be horizontal ...it was so heavy and driven by such strong winds.in such a short time.
   .Myself,  I was fortunate to not have any damage that was substantial...and the water appeared to run off rather quickly..but it made me think also of all that water that now a lot of country people are receiving after such a prolonged drought  of no rain ..in some areas a few years!! I can picture the country kids running around happily shouting in the heavy rain being just so pleased to see it once again and cattle and sheep that had never heard thunder !!...or seen lightning !!..or the feel of heavy rain on their backs.!!..what an amazingly different scene from that of one in the city... My heart goes out to the people down the coast  now that are copping a lot of this cyclonic depression as it moves south...I see the seas are huge with waves to six or eight meters..There goes a lot of the sand from the beautiful beaches..!!
My thoughts go out to all that damage is minimalised in your areas..and everyone and the animals are safe..
..Well..there is only one place for this and that is in bed with a good book while mother nature tells us to behave a little more kinder to the environment.
  .I look at the world news and see the devistating floods in Germany , France and a lot of eastern Europe also , Texas , Southern China..it certainly looks like the world is getting a cleansing.!!! take care stay safe..
