Australia
York.: WA.
An interesting card from a great friend from York Western Australia.. depicting some family history from there.."Dinsdales Store" Boot Manufacturers and Importers. located at #152 Avon Terrace, York. WA.. Originally built as a "Gentlemans Club" in 1850. This was to become my friends Gt.Gt. Grandfathers Saddlery shop that he established after arriving in York as a convict..The building then passed onto The Boot Manufacturing and Importers Co,(circa 1884 ) .Then it became Mrs Pykes Temperance Hotel (circa 1910) Today it is the Kookaburra Backpackers...quite a turn around from a Gentlemans Club. Thanks Keith great history mate..
I visited York a few years back on a road trip from Perth while on my "Around the World by Train" journeys..York, I thought was a wonderful historical old Aussie town..Really just as you would expect an old Aussie town to be,clean , lovely big old stone and brick buildings (to beat the heat) and a wonderful hospitality of local people. Today a lovely historical town with some great places to eat.. with a great little car museum and a wonderful old l Post Office with old PMG Post box.
Posted Melbourne:13 January 2015: Arrived Sydney: 16 January 2015 : Traveled 3days.Thanks Keith.
