Bornholm , DK.
Bornholm : Denmark.
A lovely card showing the smoked fish of Bornholm. This is such a great place to spend some time and we are here working on and off but each time it is such a treat to eat the smoked fish and drink the icy cold schnapps..or eating the raw steak tartar with a raw egg in the centre ..which the locals call "Sun over Gudjem " also washed down with the icy cold schnapps..This is a souvenir card that I sent home when working here..A lovely Island to spend the summer time.
Bornholm. OLD Norse.."Burgunderholmr" The Island of The Burgundians .is an Island in The Baltic Sea to the eastern end of Denmark and south of Sweden. The main industries on the Island include fishing.arts and craft, pottery, using locally made clay and also glass blowing .and dairy farming..tourism is also a very popular thing in the summertime..Strategically located in the Baltic Sea Bornholm has been fought over for centuries..usually ruled by Denmark is has also been governed by Lubeck and Sweden. The Hammershus Castle ruin is found at the nortwestern tip of the Island and is the largest medieaval Fortress in Northern Europe and testament to its strategic location.
