On December the 13th 1862 General Ambrose E Burnside attacked General Robert E Lee at Fredericksburg Virginia. Lees Confederate soldiers posted in part behind a stonewall bordering a sunken road inflicted 13,000 casualties on Burnsides Union Forces in the day long battle. The remains of 15, 000 Union soldiers that died at Fredericksburg and other local battlefields now rest in the National Cemetary at Arlington Virginia.Thank you Sylvia for this card from lovely Virginia..as you know I love this Civil War history.
